One day I catch my keys before they fall
Another day I thank a stranger
who catches them for me.
He looks up grateful and surprised--
life often goes this way.
At times I become passionate,
Fixating on someone hoping she loves me.
She looks at me and asks my name.
I say, "My name is Life".
She says, "Life often goes that way".
When I comb my hair,
I think I missed something,
But the mirror says,
"Life often goes that way."
At times the sun shines.
At others lightning thunders.
Rain comes down.
Winter becomes spring and summer.
Life often goes that way.
When I touch the earth,
Sit upon the ground, this fertile soil,
I realize I am so alone-
No one knows how I feel.
Life goes that way for everyone.
